The software will initially be used to expand the functionality of EarthLink’s wireless mobile handheld services on the BlackBerry^TM manufactured by Research In Motion Limited (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSE: RIM). EarthLink began offering EarthLink Wireless Email featuring BlackBerry last December, signaling the formal launch of its “EarthLink Everywhere” initiative. Utilizing Neomar’s Carrier Class Gateway software, EarthLink plans to offer Internet-based content, directory and navigational features on its BlackBerry-powered service, with the enhanced offerings slated to debut later this month.

The Neomar Carrier Class Gateway software enables wireless service providers to deliver secure access to application data and content via the latest smart devices, such as RIM BlackBerry, Palm OS, Pocket PC, and J2ME handhelds. The Neomar software will enable EarthLink to securely deliver and translate traffic sent between smart devices and the Web, with support for such open standards as WML and WTLS.
